Hi,
I have this silly question... Is it possible to share events between sites?

My scenario is that I have a portal having several child sites. I want the parent site to display events that have been entered on child sites. (Off cause I want more than this, but for now this is the main scenario).

Is that possible and in case how?
In case not.. what should I do to make it possible.

Hi,

No this is currently not possible. All the code is set up to isolate one portal from another. To do this would need to make some substantial code changes. However....

  • You could use the Reports module to present data in read only list form, however you would need to set this up as Host, since queries can only be created by the Host user.
  • You could use the RSS feeds (XML) being included in the next release of the module. Not sure how to do this myself, and whether you can combine multiple RSS feeds from multiple modules, but I think it would be possible.

Cheers
Roger

Using RSSFeeds you would be able to combine th events from various sources. Limitation is that the display is in an RSSFeed display driven format, so a monthly calendar would not be an option, a list display would.

There are various RSSFeed display modules that can combine multiple RSSfeeds into 1 result.

Here's one example of using DNN's NewsFeed module to display events from the EVENTS module:
