How can I achieve the following with FCKeditor:

  • When editors want to link to another page within DNN, they cannot choose the page but can only enter normal URLs. Do we really have to input the hardcoded URLs for a page?
  • When linking to a file (e.g. a PDF), how can it be achieved that an editor can directly upload that file from his drive with FCK and the link is created. Otherwise he had to stop editing the article, moving to the filemanager, uploading the file, back to editing the page, etc etc
  • When editing a page, we would to have a fixed style, so we do not want to allow editors to use other colors then our corporate colors, mess the design with too much different typo etc. How can we bind our editors two use pre-defined styles, e.g. for H1 and H2, emphasized text and links?

  •  for your first point, use insert link button and browse server option
  • for uploading files, you need to grant write permission for the target server in Admin :: File Manger (permission grid is at the bottom)
  • in advanced editor settings you can easily specify, which styles are listed and toolbars are available per role.

Thanks for the help, Sebastian.

  • Obviously I wasn't able to see the DNN pages in the browser sever option before, because the dotnetnuke.fkhtmleditorprovider.dll wasn't moved to the bin folder before (as you told me to do in the other thread). Now it works, thanks a lot! :-)
  • clicking the icon for an image in the FCKeditor, I can upload any image I want to server. Anyways, this is only for images. If we would like to link a PDF document for example, I would like to have a similar button and dialog to upload the PDF.
  • In the toolbar setting I can only assign four pre-defined toolbars (DNNDefault, no gallery, Default, Basic) to user roles. Beside that, there is (or I simply don't get it) no possibility to add new toolbars and define what they include. Please see the attached image:
