Hi

I am building a multi blog site using dnn 5.01.For every user role i have created a blog page using blog module. Now for any login, default home page is displayed. But based on dnn user roles authentication, i want to dispay the corresponding blog page as home page for users logged in.

Can any one suggest where i should change the code. viz. which vb file or any solution for above task.

Thanks,

Swaminathan.

Actually i got that there can be only one blog for a single portal. I am adding 1 blog each in 2 more portal.

So now what i want to know is Based on Dnn User role's Authentication, they should be redirected to their corresponding portals.

Any suggestions or solutions.related to where i need to change the code.pls reply.

Thanks,

Swaminathan.

A better, quicker, less expensive solution would be to use a module like Dynamic Login from Datasprings.com.

Thanks for your suggestion. But is there any other option like by modifying codes or settings in my local dnn portal so that when the user logs in, based on user role authentication, page is  redirected to different pages of local portal?.

I know this can be done with in a portal(by changing page permission settings, module permission settings and security roles for use).By doing this role less users could see the default home page which is fine. But role based users even though they are given access to view only their blog page, just because their blog page is not the default home page, when they login,  a message saying "You don't have access to view this tab". That's the problem i am facing.

Any suggestions. pls reply.

Awaiting your reply.

Thanks

Swaminathan

Accepted Answer

My issue is solved.I just followed the following steps:

  • Create a BlogEditor role. Add a Drummer account and the Guitarist account to this role.
  • Log on as Drummer and create a blog, log on as Guitarist and create a blog.
  • Create 2 pages, one called Drummer Blog and one called Guitarist Blog.
  • Insert the Blog module on both.
  • Modify the blog modules on these pages to allow editing by BlogEditor accounts.
  • Logged on as Admin, modify the Blog Module Settings and make them "PersonalBlogPages"
  • On the main page insert the Blog module and leave it as is.

Now my logic which i was looking for  is working viz. Every user role can view and edit their independent blog page after logging in.Also

  • On the main page i can see all blog entries.
  • On the Drummer Blog page i can see only the Drummer blog entries.
  • On the Guitarist  Blog Page i can see only the Guitarist  Blog entries.
  • Drummer and Guitarist  can only post to their respective blogs.
