I'm attempting to run the install from within Visual Studio on my development machine.  I'm connecting to a server running SQL Express on the local network. On that server I've built a new empty database and then connected to it.  The connection string appears to be valid.  When the install runs and I get past the directory permissions screen to the database connections page and then click next.  The system hangs at:

Run Database Installation Scripts

The installation of the database scripts should have started when this page loaded. The Next button will be disabled until the Installation of the Scripts is complete.

The strange thing is that one table and only one table is created in the database.  It is called "Version."  No error is ever thrown.  The install justs sits there.

Any idea where I go from here?

Most likely this happens, when the virtual user ("Network Service" by default) does not have enough permissions in file system. make sure, this account has full permission for the installation directory and all subfolders.
