The REPORTS module is probably more appropriate if you're referring to reporting what's already been counted (via LinkClick links).  I've done many "download counts" implementations with similar free modules like SQLView and Advanced Datagrid.

Are you asking if it is possible to use a UDT to record counts as items are downloaded?  If so, is there a reason you would not leverage LinkClick links (with the LINKS module or DOCUMENTS module) for the task?

we did not include the urlTracking control due to the fact, that there can be multiple links or download columns in a module and URLTracking does not provide easy association, which results belong to which field. We are looking forward to a new URL control in DNN 5.x, which shall include tracking much better.
