I've read though these forums and "contacted" GoDaddy but they say heck it's not our code.

Their  reply "Unfortunately, we can not troubleshoot third party coding. However, if you believe that this issue is on our side, please reply with a detailed explanation of the problem."

My statement to them:

Below you will see the SMTP error>
"InnerException: The SMTP host was not specified."

This is from the log when I tried to send out a new message.

I am not using DNN4.x but have you specified the mail server your DNN install should use?  In ver 3.x to do this you login as host/superuser then go to Host|Host Settings|Advanced Settings|SMTP Server Settings and enter in the mail server address and any authentication required.
If you don't know these details ask GoDaddy for the address and authentication details you should use to send email from your web site.  Authentication may not be required.

I never knew to go in as host.  Thanks!

I went in as host, and added my team email account as the account, the smtp.securenet.com  that GoDaddy shows  for using when your  setting up an email account.  I added the authentication needed and now get this error.

InnerException: Mailbox name not allowed. The server response was: Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.
Message: System.Net.Mail.SmtpFailedRecipientException: Mailbox name not allowed. Any ideas?

TIA

I am using godaddy as well, and having major difficulites communicating with them also!  I think the smtp address you need is smtpout.secureserver.net try this with your user name and password.  I also clicked on basic.  This seems to work fine for me.  I am now having problems with the forum notification emails though!
