Hi all,

I was working on a DNN site, and I'm having a flash as background on the homepage. If you hover your mouse onto the Main Menu, the Sublevel Menu would appear above the flash.

When the .swf file size was small, the Sublevel Menu works fine. However, when the .swf file size is big (200k-300k), if you hover your mouse onto the Main Menu, you have to wait 15 - 20 seconds to see the Sublevel Menu appearing.

 Is that normal? Is there anyway I can get around with it?

Here is the URL of the site: www.runningwithfire.com.spwd.net.nz        Hover your mouse onto Video tab and wait a good 15-20seconds to see the Sublevel Menu. (sometimes it even doesn't show up)

It would be appreciated if you guys can give me some advices. Thanks a lot!

Personally I don't have very good experiences with a menu over Flash movie.

I tried a transparent menu over a flash film once and had to rebuilt the movie (fade in-out) with JS because I couldn't get it too work on a Mac.

In your case I would try an unorderd list menu which uses CSS for the dropdown, I guess that' less complicated for a browser and should give you less problems, I think.

I'm using DNN 4.9.2 and DNN NavMenu. I don't know how to change the menu to an unordered list menu. Could you please give more detials on how to do that?

The new menu that comes with DNN 5.0.1 can render an unordered list but it still uses JS for the dropdowns.

So you would have to use another menu skin object and  I cannot asure you it will help...

You could use housemenu, or the snapsis menu, but you need some CSS knowledge to use them.
