How Can I Position the Update Progress Bar? It is always at the bottom of the page where it is kind of useless.

There is no way short of modifying the core. Can you raise this in Gemini as a lot of people agree with you and then hopefully it will be enhanced.

 OK, I will...

but in the meantime, I could use inhertiance to modify the class, but I am unnsure of what I should code.

I already tried it by adding the 'left' and 'top' style properties to the image but that didn't work. Any suggestions on what I should do to change the position?

Should I edit CreateUpdateProgressControl in DotNetNuke.Framework.Ajax?

Assuming you are creating a module ... in the PageLoad of your module try something like

If AJAX.IsInstalled Then
      AJAX.RegisterScriptManager()
      Dim upnl As Control = AJAX.WrapUpdatePanelControl(MYCONTROL, False)
      Dim uprg As Control = AJAX.CreateUpdateProgressControl(upnl.ID, _
                            "<img src='" & ResolveUrl("~/images/progressbar.gif") & "'><span>Updating ...</span>")
      MYPLACEHOLDER.Controls.Add(uprg)
End If

where MYCONTROL is any section of the page you want to wrap for partial rendering and MYPLACEHOLDER is an asp:placeholder located anywhere.
in my trial (4.5.3) of this the placeholder was inside the update panel and seemed fine. The second parameter can be either a HTML string or a control
so presumably you can make the progress look like anything as well as placing it anywhere.

hope this is what you are looking for (and I hope it works - I only just tried it myself).
