Hi,

I am getting a compilation error (see error output below) when I try to install version 4.02. I have read all the stuff

in the documentation on the install process and many of the posts on that subject in this forum. I am pretty certain I

performed all the steps correctly including the configuration for ASP.NET 2 in IIS and pointing to the \Website

subdirectory as per the instructions on page 33 of the installation guide. The error below seems to be pointing to

Global.asax.vb and note that the information seems to reference the correct compiler and .NET Framework. I

have looked at other postings covering compilation errors but I did not see any posts with this exact error.

 

Here are some facts that may be pertinent. I am running Win XP Pro SP2 and IIS 5.1. I have Visual Studio 2005,

ASP .NET 2.0, .NET Framework 2.0, and SQL Server 2005 installed from the MSDN developer package.

However, note that I still have Visual Studio 2003, SQL Server 2000, ASP .NET 1.1, and Framework 1.1

installed. SQL Server 2003 and 2005 are a side-by-side installation with 2005 as a named instance. I still have

DotNetNuke 3.2.1 installed and working with a SQL Server 2003 database. I installed DotNetNuke 4.02 from

the source zip file. I set up the DotNetNuke 4.02 database in the SQL Server 2005 named instance and used a

connection string like the one that works with the 2003 database with the named instance as the data source and

the 2005 database name of DotNetNuke_2. Note that I am able to access DotNetNuke_2 via the login in my

connection string through SQL Server 2005 Management Studio.

 

I recognize that this is a pretty complex environment. I also know that the order of installation of all of this stuff

may have caused some difficulties.  Does anyone have a clue as to the problem with this installation? For my next

step I was considering changing the web.config debug parameter to true and running this under VS 2005 debug.

Are there any other suggestions? I would appreciate any advice.
