Hi,

Can someone help me out with the following.
I'm using DNN 4.9.2 and the NewFeed 4.0.01 module.

I can setup RSS feeds to external modules just fine, but links to internal DNN modules fail.

Feed 'http://localhost/News/tabid/120/moduleid/82/RSS.aspx' could not be loaded. Error:
The element 'channel' has incomplete content.

I can load the RSS feed in my Windows Explorer just fine, and when I do this it looks like it's working in DNN as well (because it's in the DNN cache), but after the IIS application pool was restarted I have the error back.

I've debugged this issue and looks like the HTTPWebRequest to grab the RSS XML doesn't have the appriopate user credentials in his HTTP context and therefore the user is not authorized and the RSS.aspx delivers a non-complete XML file.

Anybody seen this before??

ps I'm using DNN 4.9.2 on Oracle and we are using a custom Authentication provider for OpenSSO

Jos,

I believe other folks have seen this issue as well.  Probably should be logged in the Issue Tracker for the News module for attention.

Thanks Iwonder, I will have a look in the issue tracker, but last week I wasn't successful finding any issues related to this.

In addition, I just found out that the only way I get this working is to assign the 'All User' role permissions to the page of the syndicated module, in my test it's the announcement module.

However, these modules are for specific roles and I do not want to assign the ‘All User’ permissions on module and page for the sake of RSS.
The NewFeed module should impersonate with the ‘logged-on’ user’s credentials while grabbing the RSS XML

Hope this make sense?

Thanks,
Jos

Yes, I agree with you.  That's the way all modules should work.  I didn't see the issue in the Issue Tracker, but a number of people have reported similar issues in the forums, and not just with the Announcements module, and not of these issue reported in the forums are added to the Issue tracker as they should, by the folks reporting them.  You might want to go ahead and log it.  I don't have a public site, so I don't see those types of issues myself, my usage is more just ensuring that the basic setup functions rather than testing for a user or group.

Thanks Iwonder for the swift replies, much appreciated.
I'll raise an incident in the Bug Tracker, hopefully a fix can be made because I do like the simplicity of the NewsFeed module.
