I have a DotNetNuke 4.8.2 Site that is accessable from the internet. When I try to expand the folder tree of my Portal-root in Administrator -> File manager Menu from my intranet it doesn't work. The tree simply does not expand and IE8 shows up a message box with "-"...
I tried that with Firefox and IE7 too,.. same result.

Doing the same (with the same browser / settings) from the internet works fine -> the Portal-root tree expands after clicking the + Symbol.
formarly the Site was installed in the intranet zone and anything worked fine...

Since changing security settings for my browser has no effect I suppose it's a firewall restriction (watch guard).

Anyone has an idea what kind of restriction it might be? What's happening (technology) when a user clicks on the + simbol...?

Any suggestion would be appreciated..
Regards Markus

this might be caused by more strict security settings for the intranet zone in your browser - e.g. javascript turned off.

hello sebastian
thank's for your quick reply.
that was my first suggestion too. I testet it (e.g. IE7) allowing eveything under tools -> internet options -> security tab -> internet -> custom level.
-> that didn't fix it.
I tried the same for the local intranet zone.. although I suppose it's thee internet zone that is important.
-> no results.
I really think it's no setting I can make on my browser. the reason should be the firewall, do you agree? e.g. the firewall would never allow me to run active-x controls in my browser independent from my personal browser settings.

what I would need is to tell the sysadmin what firewall rule he has to downgrade..

regards markus

there is no need for ActiceX in Intranet or Internet, but you need to have JavaScript and Cookies enabled.

Hi - we're also having the same problems DNN 4.08.00 and 4.08.04, but it's the same either side of the firewall, through internet or intranet conenction.  No changes on the browser security and the same for all admin users.  This is a problem for us and our clients running their portals, as it was running ok until a couple of days ago.

Any other ideas what this can be?

Thanks
Tim.
