I am new to DNN and have been working with it for several months now.  I have created my first site but have noticed that IE does not render the site the same way as Firefox.  I was trying to find out how I can make DNN 4.9 XHTML complient.  I am not sure what what each .css do and which one I should be looking at.  I understand the skin.css controls the look of the page but there the two browsers should be a lot closer thatn they are.  I have been doing web design for about 10 years using note pad and Dreamweaver.  Has anyone done this?

Thanks

Randy

Sometimes XHTML Complaint does not mean it will be all browser compatible. Firefox follows standard better than IE. Make it work for Firefox first and then you may need some IE hacks. I have not played around with 4.9 but I did make DNN 5.0 complaint here http://www.fowara.com . To remove all error you will need to change the core solpartmenu with a compliant menu. Then you will have to make sure that all modules that you are installing are also XHTML Complaint. I know this will not help you but an idea what you will have to do.

You can achieve XHTML compliance with DNN 4.9.  If you have a link to the site and CSS files, I'm sure we can help you out better.

Here is a site in developent that I'm working on that is pretty much XHTML compliant.  I just have two alt tags missing that I can't get working with the Ventrian news articles module.

Also, remember when using XHTML in 4.9, you will need a doctype xml file with the same name as your skin file. In 5.0 you can set the default to XHTML under host settings.

In the medium to long run I recommend you strive towards DNN5.
