Hi All,

I am using linkbutton to open a new window via linkbutton.attributes.add("onClick"," var x=window.open(url,'_blank');" and at the same tome handle its click event.  It's all worked fine except for the new window instead of url be www.newwindow.com, the framework somehow reformatted it to http://localhost/DotNetNuke3/Laboratory/Popup/tabid/54/www.newwindow.com.  Is there a way to open a new window without the url being reformatted?  Much help is appreciated.

Are you doing this in the html editor?

And why a link button?  is that not a form functio thing?  Are you using a linked graphic you want to open in new window or just a link?

I can do it using the hyperlink, however you can't handle the server side click event on a hyperlink control.  For a link button I can handle the click event and at the same time I can open a new window.  For eample, I have two links, one to open a new window to www.yahoo.com and another one opens to www.google.com.  I want to record which one the user has chosen  By using linkbutton control and add an onclick attribute to open a new window would achieve these two tasks.  My problem is once the button is click a new window is open to either http://localhost/DotNetNuke3/Laboratory/Popup/tabid/54/www.yahoo.com or http://localhost/DotNetNuke3/Laboratory/Popup/tabid/54/www.google.com.  It seems like DNN has reformatted the URL.  It looks like I am the only one with this problem, so I might not be approaching this the right way.  If you have a better way of doing this, please show.  Thanks in advance.

I don't know why you are not using the links module - it allows you to track when it was clicked and open in a new window.

But it's not within the text html module.

The only other suggestion I can think of is if you use the banners module - setup a vendor - eg. the urls you want to track and embed that link in the html module. Then you could track it, through the vendor click throughs, I think.

You can also create a page - and have it click to a url.. that's another option, but I could bet getting off track here..

There are plenty of ways to skin a cat - but I'm at the stage of thinking - what colour is the cat anyway!

Maybe you can help me if you know exactly what I am gettting at.  I am in the process of creating an ad campaign module.  On the first page, it asks the user if he/she want to participate in a prize drawing.  The page will have two buttons, [Accept] and [Reject].  if the user select [Reject], we doen't do anything and resume what theuser was doing.  If the user select [Accept] we take the user to www.PrizeDrawing.com via a pop-up window.  In the meantime we also want to record the user has already accept/reject the campaign and record the user selection in our DB so we won't show the capaign again the nextime the user log on.  I've used the hyperlink control by using assigning it's NavigarteUrl=www.PrizeDrawing.com and target="_blank".  That worked fine, however I had no ability to record the user selection since hyperlink doesn't have an event handler.  Unless you can show me another way of handle this event.  That is the reason why I chose to use the Linkbutton control, it would give me the ability to open up a new window and handle the click event.  However the window it's opened up is not the url i've specified.  Instead stead of open www.PrizeDrawing.com it opened up http://localhost/DotNetNuke3/Laboratory/Popup/tabid/54/www.PrizeDrawing.com.  Thank you very much for your response.
