I have successfully installed and run the DotNetNuke 4.x app under .NET 2.0.  The problem I am having is when I go to deploy it to a production site, I try to access it's url and get a message saying "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:2833".  This is the local debugging url under my VS.NET 2005 env.  Why is it trying to use this URL on the production?  My assumption is that when I did my install using the file location for dev on the site it saved this somewhere and I can not locate it?  Would someone please tell me what is up?

Thanks in advance,

Allan

It is looking for your development location which is localhost.

What you need to do is add the production URL to the portal alias table. It should show up then.

You can do this two ways - from the sql table - portal alisaes  - or locally, in the portal alias area of the administration, and the reupload the db.

Thank you!  Ha!  I figured it out right before you replied by thanks... I hope this helps others on this problem.  NOW... I have another issue.

I corrected my connection strings to SQL Express 2005.  I gave up on setting up integrated authentication and did staright up user and password embedding in the conn string.... yes bad, but it works for now.  I am still in the process of learning about this web app.

The problem I am having now is that I can now load up and access the forum outside of the debugger from changing the portal alias.  NOW all my modules on the pages are saying "An Error has occurred, Error: links are unavailable".  I assume the modules are not getting to the data they need at this point.  Where do I troubleshoot this issue?

i had the same problem and fixed it by adding the correct sql connection string under both the <appSettings> and <connectionStrings> in the web.config file.
