I would like end users to be able to view old news articles (or archived news articles).

further to the above,
if it's not possible for end users to view the drop down box (with old news, archived news etc)....

is it possible to organise news announcements into different pages - e.g. page 1 of 2,
instead of all appearing in 1 long list?

Mark,

Try using the UDT (or form and List module) and using custom XSLT to output it.

If you want, I have created a template (compatible with form & List module) that does this.
