tacosta-
You should not try to upgrade directly to 4.9.x from 4.4.x -- such a big jump between DNN versions often results in a failed upgrade attempt

Based on my own experience I recommend you first upgrade to 4.6.2, then 4.8.x and then 4.9.3.  If you can, start from a good working copy of your 4.4.x site rather than from the failed upgrade copy.

Good luck-

I'm sorry about the confusion, on the first screenshot you can read: "Installing version 4.4.0" so i thought i had that version installed.

But when i log in as host, on the host settings the first line says that my DNN version is 04.08.00.

Also, i first tried the typical installation and it didn't work so i restored both the DB and the Site i backed prior to the upgrade and tried the auto installation mode which resulted in those screenshots on my first post.

Do you have any idea of what i could be doing wrong?

Thank you for your time,

Tiago Costa

since the new install starts at 4.4.0 (which is the base schema for 4.9.3), your probable issue is that your upgrade is installing to a different database. This might be caused because you made an error in the web.config.

The proper way to upgrade dnn is to just unzip the upgrade package in the root of your existing dnn application (no changes to web.config are necessary, as the upgrade will merge necessary changes automatically...), and browse to the site, upgrade should start automatically

Wonderful help, ErikVB. Thank you :)

I read somewhere that, after copying the upgrade package, i should rename release.config to web.config and merge the necessary changes (machine keys, conn strings, etc.) by hand. That tutorial must be outdated.

Following what you said, i just had to make a quick fix because i use themes...

adding

<head id="Head" runat="server">
</head>

to Install/Install.aspx

Anyway, the upgrade worked so thank you for your quick and correct reply.

Is there anyway to mark a post as an answer?
