 I created a design for a DNN skin. Problem is I have never skinned a site that has a background that must take up the entire browser space. I have a image of the design below. It's a vintage curtain. What is the perfect size so that it appears consistent across all monitor sizes without scrollbars or white space.

It seems like that design idea is too much of a pain to deal with.  You are going to have to use javascript to determine the users resolution, then you have to worry about what toolbars they have installed, etc...

I would just adjust your background image to have a dark maroon gradient around all the edges that would blend in with your overall page background.

body {
background: #4F0000 url(yourpic.jpg) no-repeat fixed center center;
}

That is what I was thinking, having a black circular gradiant around the edges and then setting the background to black.

Have a look at  this:

http://d-graff.de/fricca/center.html

it's a "better" way to center / center

(the content does not move outside the browser if you make it smaller)
