OK - now this is getting even more curious! I type the command in the SQL window and execute and - after a bit of a whir, nothing! Nada! Zip! Just back to the SQL window! 

So it looks like it's an issue with the display of the results?

Hhhmm....perhaps test the SQL query UI with a query that should definitely return some data:
 
  select top 5 * from users

  • Don't tick "run as script" in SQL module.
  • make sure not to enable log buffer in Host :: Settings, or enable the purge buffer scheduled job
  • Make sure to store site log in database, not in file system (Host Settings)
  • check site log duration in Host settings
  • check site log duration in Site settings (Host section).
  • after you succeeded to display site log, make sure to enable purgeSitelog job in scheduler.

OK - select top 5 * from users worked... but still the site log is empty!
