Hi everbody, when the user logs in i have to check an entry in the UserProfile Table. So i need a third input box in the login control. Is there a build in solution to extend the control or do i have to write my own control and membership provider?

Hi matze-
Can you provide a little more detail?  Are you needing to SET a profile field, DISPLAY data from a field or TAKE ACTION based on a field value?

If you are looking to simply require a third piece of information for login verification I would implement this as a Custom Authentication provider.  This is a very simple process, however there isn't a lot of documentation.  I cover it a bit in my Professional DotNetNuke Module Programming book, and I have source code available for a custom provider that I seel on snowcovered.

hi,

the requirement concerns three fields for login. customer number, email and password. I will save the customer number as a profile property. Furthermore i'am going to set the flag that a valid profile is required for registration. Therefore i have the information complete. But what about the login control and the validation process. What do i have to do? Writing a own login control and writing an own MembershipProvider, which overrides the validation?

All that you need to do is to write a custom authentication provider, simply do your own login verification, then pass off to DNN to do the login.  No changes to the membership provider are needed at all.

The code to do this would be quite simple.  I mentioned some resources for sample code on project structure.
