I just found out that the great Ventrian Simple Gallery is not working with Active Directory integration (they use a Flash uploader which does not support HTTP authentication, so you just cannot upload any picture while authentication is done against AD). So can someone recommend any other good - and, if possible, cheap or free - gellery/picture module?

I was going to recommend the Ventrian Simple Gallery until I saw that you already use it.  We have used it in HUNDREDS of installations with no problems at all.  Have you tried their latest version?

If that's still causing problems, contact the owner at Ventrian (forgot his name), and he will certainly work with you.  His customer support is fantastic, and he's very quick to respond.

My only other comment...DON'T TEST MODULES ON PRODUCTION SITES!  You would not believe how many people just upload a module, then delete it for whatever reason, and then try another....NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!  Don't cluter your site or the DB with junk!

Good luck!

Bob

Have you posted it at Ventrian's forums?  Scott is pretty good at providing updates if possible.

Otherwise, I don't know any other decent *cheap or free* ones.  But you may want to confirm the ability to use AD integrated securtiy with any developer you choose to get one from.

I already talked to him and also posted it to the forums. But there does not seem to be any chance to get the module working with AD. It is not the module itself, but the Flash uploader which is not able to handle HTTP authentication. I now asked Scott if there is an old version which uses a different uploader. It's such a pity, hos modules are great, I love News Articles and the Feedback Center, and Simple Gallery is great, too. It is just the uploader..

You are probably right, but how should I find out about this Active Directory issue without testing on our production server? My local machine does not authenticate against AD, of course. ;-)

Yeah, the older versions didn't use the flash uploader and should work.  I can't remember how far back you need to go though.
