Is it possible to have a master UDT/FNL module and a child UDT/FNL module?  Whereby selecting one item in the master list, would then filter the secondary list?

If it is possible, how would I go about doing this?

  1. Relations between FnL tables are not supported. That feature is not on the FnL roadmap.
  2. It is possible though, see this page as example: http://www.formandlist.com/Blogs.aspx. The relation between blog and comments is created by querystring and filter against the new [querystring:parametername] token.

Thanks for the quick response.

Can you explain a little bit more on how you created the blog/comment?  Or have you already done so somewhere that you could point me to?

I am guessing that you are using a master/detail xsl transformation, with an additional FNL module below that only shows records when the querystring appears.

Is that correct, or am I off?

If that is correct, my question is, how do you define the querystring variable without using the default prefix-param function - or can you?

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks,

Alex

  • The single blog would render all blogs if I would not apply the following filter: UserDefinedRowId=[Querystring:id] + 0
  • The comments have a column blogid, which I filter to BlogID=[Querystring:id] +0
  • The default value of the BlogId is [Querystring:ID]
  • The default prefix-param function is no magic, it is only string manipulation. I am not using it here, but it would also possible. It is a simple convention:
The content  of a query string like udt_ModuleID_anyParameterNameWillDo will be injected as Xsl Parameter with the name param_anyParameterNameWillDo to a FnL/UDT with that ModuleID. All you need is the ModuleID, which is available for you for example inside the url during edit or configuration.
  • There are some more tricks used for the blog on form and LIst :-)
