Hi,

I am attempting to move a DNN 4.9.1 site that is running on SQL Server Express 2005 to a new hosting provider and am having problems connecting to the site. Is the connectionString for SQL Server 2008 different from the SQL Server 2005 connectionString?

Here is how the connectionString looks as modified for the 2008 db:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=mssql08\inst1;Database=XXXXXXX_myportals;uid=XXXXXX_XXX;pwd=XXXXXX;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Is there an intermediate step that needs to be done to migrate the database from Express to 2008?

Currently when I try to bring up the new site using a temporary URL, it dumps me to a "localhost" URL.

Thanks for any insights into this.

 connection string has no differences between sQL2005 and 2008, but make sure to use un-commented string in your web.config file and change it in BOTH places. Make sure as well, that TCP/IP and remote login is supported by your SQL server.
