hi

i dowinload the installation version

and unzip all files

and open the all files in Visual studio 2008 as website and when i make itbuild it give me this error

It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS

so i go to IIS and create new website for this forder only website

when i try to open the website it show me this error:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

so how can i install it on local Server

Beginning at the last: your sql-server must accept tcp, instead of named pipes

To the first probs: it depends a little on the OS of your "server". However, allthough a little old, the install  doc should explain everything.

Regarding the first issue: DNN needs to be installed either in web site root or in a virtual directory, and there must be a web.config file in DNN root folder and none in another folder below.

Regarding SQL authentication you need to enable TCP/IP on server and client as well as allow remote authentication.
