I need to create an own scheduler for DNN. Now obviously that needs to have a compiled DLL file. As I am using Visual Web Developer 2008 but not Visual Studio, I cannot compile to a DLL. I already tried the command line tool in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\csc.exe but that does not work neither, it produces errors that the type or namespace DotNetNuke could not be found.

Can someone help me how I can create my own scheduler with VWD?

Make sure that you have SP1 for VWD, and then make sure that the project is a WAP module.

If you have those two setups, you will be good to go!

Will VWD then be able to create the DLL? Or how should I then create the DLL that it works with the DNN scheduler?

VWS 2008 SP1 has been added the option to create and compile Web Application Projects (with .dll).

It took me a little while to figure out how to do this when i first started.  Ive installed the DNN template and all i do now is create a new project and select DotNetNuke Compiled Module from my templates.   In the my project dialog you can select Compile tab and you will be able to change the path to your bin.   To compile you just build the project .  Youll find the dll in the bin folder that you specified.  Hope this helps
