hi

i am a newbie developer using LINQ to SQL for developing DNN module. Everything works fine in the module when i am logged in as administrator (things are getting saved in the DB). However, when i am logged in as normal portal user, while the module is visible, nothing gets done at the backend. there are also no errors visible.

for my module, i have added code in the App_Code dir and module ascx in DeslTopModules/module directory. I am using VS 2008 w/ SQL 2008 installed on Win Vista PC for development.

i am not sure what may be happening. any ideas would be welcome.

cheers

Abhishek

You will need to make sure that the "Cache Time" is set to 0 for your module.  This can be done in your DNN manifest, or via the "Settings" for the module instance.

thank you for the advice. this worked. I am wondering then how can custom modules benefit from caching?

Output caching can be used for modules with non-personalized content only.

Another option for caching is caching data objects within the module to avoid retrieving the same information constantly from the database.
