I am new to DNN. I am in the process of comverting an HTML website into DNN. I paid someone to make me a skin.  My html template has flash in it.  These flash movies point to a text file wich tells it what text to display, and whawt images to display.   It points to a flash folder in the root directory of the website using a relative URL i think.

Example   www.domain.com/flash/  would be the directory.

However, when this template was converted into DNN, the text and images no longer show up.  I am not familiar with out the link generation or directory structure works for DNN.  Can I solve this problem simply by moving the flash folder to the root of the skin folder?  I have tried this and it did not work.  What should I do?

Can anyone help me?

I guess what I need to know is, if this is something that can simply be done by moving or renaming the flash directory  .... or if it requires me to change the URL that the flash movies use to find the text files??

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Why are you wanting to put the Flash in a special directory? My personal view is that the Flash is part of the skin and should be in that same directory. Either way, it should work fine. You might want to use ResolveUrl(), but outside of that, everything should work w/o a problem.

I think you are not understanding what I am asking.

This is the situation:

I bought an HTML template for my website.  The html template can be seen here: wwwtemp.ppt4drs.com. The template includes several flash files.  These files include images and some text files.  The text files contain text and links that the flash movies displays.  The flash movies look for these external files in the same directory in which the flash movie resides.  The directory is currently named flash.

I then had kreko.com convert it into a skin. However, they couldn't get the flash to find see the external files (the images and txt files).

I uploaded the skin.  The flash directory is a subdirectory of the skin folder.  DNN loads the flash fine, however none of hte images or text show up.  I think this is because it can no longer see those files.

Does anyone know how to fix this??  PLEASE HELP!

How can I get the flash movies to see the files?

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have a similar problem.

What I would assume is that its a pathing issue, specifically how the flash applet looks for the text file, it's probably linked as:   flash\textfile.txt   which would no doubt cause it to look to the wrong directory considering your skin sits in  \wwwroot\Portals\_default\skins  .

Sooooo.... two solutions come to mind:

1) Pick apart the flash and find where it imports the text file and fix the link's pathing

2) Move the flash to the "root" directory (so that the pathing remains the same as the skin's desinger assumed) and then make the changes in your skin to point to the newly located flash file (I don't reccomend this as it breaks up the skin files)

Hope that all makes sense...
