Hi,

Kinda in a predictment here with migrating from local host  to a web server.

Problem  :

We are currently working on a developing dnn website on Server test1 and have to send it for testing on Server test2. While the site is being testing, the development continues for other stages for the website. In short two different instances of the same website is created.

The main problem is re working the links found in different modules, since most of them being http://test1/....  how can i convert all these to reflect the new system.

Thanks for your time.

Links are by default stored domain relative, i.e. as long as relative path on the server remains the same, there should be no problem.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your reply but I guess the problem still haunts us since most of  our links are found in Documents module which has been widely used through out the site and which points to various virtual directories. Since being an training intranet site, most of the training material are found else where and not on the dnn server.

This  becomes quite a problem for us when we try to migrate from one system to another.

We have addressed the relative links when ever we use text/ html module, but using relative doesnt work for documents module since it request for an URL .

if you need to mass modify links, using a SQL tool like Management Studio would be an option. Documents module uses Documents table.
