I have just started into DNN and developing modules using LINQ. I am finding it very easy to use with LINQ. With DAL/DAl+ it is very time consuming to create all those classes like sqlprovider, controller, info).

But why DNN developers still code using DAL/DAL+ when using LINQ save you 90% of the code? Are there any issues besides LINQ is only for SQL Server?

thanks,

Amir

There's two things: DAL is used when you need portability. DAL+ can be used in scenarios where support for different databases is not needed.

While DAL+ and DAL allow you to leverage the power of optimization in SQL, using LINQ you need to write optimized queries yourself.
