You don't need the SigmaPro Web Service, if you're using the free version of the DNN Vista Gadget then you can install the Gadgets Web Service that is included in the download. If you have SigmaPro or are an active subscriber then you should use the SigmaPro Web Service.
Below is the paragraph in the user manual that contains more information:
If you are an existing OnyakTech Subscriber, make sure you download the latest version of the Vista Gadget from the “My Downloads” page in the Members tab on www.OnyakTech.com. You should also install the OnyakTech SigmaPro Web Service module instead of the OnyakTech Gadgets Web Service. If you already have the SigmaPro Web Service installed then you may skip the installation of the Web Service and setup your Vista Gadget on your computer.
At this time, the Vista Gadget Web Service is the same as the web methods called in the SigmaPro Web Service for the Vista Gadgets. But over time new features will be added that will only be available to the Gadgets when used with the SigmaPro Web Service.
Simply stated, if you're using the free version of the DNN Vista Gadget you need to install the following:
- OnyakTech.Gadgets.WebService.1.0.1.zip = Install into DotNetNuke as a module
- OnyakTech.DotNetNuke.Vista.gadget = Double-Click on your PC to install the Gadget into Vista
NOTE: If you don't see the OnyakTech.Gadgets.WebService.1.0.1.zip in the zip file you downloaded, go back to www.OnyakTech.com and download the current release. This new version contains a patch that provides more accurate listing of users online within the portal you specified in the Gadget settings.
