make sure, that App_data folder is not write protected and Asp.Net account has full permission.

if this doesn't help, please post the connection strings section from your database (passwords and username obfuscated).

 The connection string I am using is

    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;connection timeout=10;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

I am not using the username and password. I am using the intergrated security.

I solved the problem by uncommenting the following in web.config
<identity impersonate="true" />
    <authentication mode="Windows">
    </authentication>

And commenting the following
<authentication mode="forms">
<forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies" />
</authentication>

It shows the install page. But when I select Auto I get the following error

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.09.03

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

I do not understand why it is not connecting since I am using the Integrated security. It should connect.

The documentation of DNN is very poor as it does not clearly specifies what exact configuration needs to be done.
