Hi,

Using DNN 5.0.1 - created custom module for client - went to install an package on their system (through Host/Module Definitions) and noticed this text in the install log:

Assembly already registered

DNN installed the other files correctly (i.e. the DesktopModules/ModuleName files) - but did not in fact replace the module dll with the newer version.

Has anyone else come across this issue?  I couldn't figure it out at first because there were no bold red errors in the install log - had to seach the log to find the "Assembly already registered" line - do not recall seeing this before...

Thanks in advance,  Al

Update- excperienced the same behvaiour on another website also running 5.0.1.  Installed Ventrian Simple Gallery - and the dll's were not replaced with the dll's in the package.  Had to manually ftp the dll's to the bin folder.

Am I the only person that has experienced this behaviour?

No, you are not alone.

Still happens on 5.2.3, even being 100% sure the assembly version number included in the installer is higher than the one already installed.

Solution / workaround:

check & update (or delete and later re-install the module) the version column in this table, for the given package:

select * from Assemblies where PackageID = ....

For some reason the registered version of the DLL(s) in this table is higher than the one being installed and so their installation is skipped.
