Greetings. One of my DNN modules does quite a bit of server side setup (creating virtual directories, cloning databases, etc) and everything works perfectly but the page obviously sits there and waits until everything has completed. Is there a way to run the module on the page "asynchronously" like you could in a traditional way. All of my success/failure info is handled with SQL db mail so I really don't need to tell the user anything - just showing a "Request has been submitted" kind of thing.

I am using .net 3.0 - vb -, visual studio 2005, DNN  4.8

Thanks for the help.

Keith

Simple answer is "yes".  Use asynch callback (AJAX) just as you would in an ASPX page.  DNN versions 4.5 and newer will have native support.

The normal async callback caveats apply.  If your process critically depends on the user remaining on the page until all steps are complete then make sure to grab their attention before you initiate the process(es), etc.
