Hey,

We are currently running several DNN sites, one of them however needs major changes and to prevent any data loss we decided to copy the files + database to another server as TEST platform, however the DNN site on the TEST platform keeps going to the the actual LIVE site.

Does anyone have any idea's on how I can make the copyied site on the TEST platform just link to http://localhost/testsite for example? rather then to the official LIVE site.

Thanks

It sounds like you have been able to do the backup and restore without issue.  The only thing you need to do now is to add a new PortalALias to the "PortalAlias" table inside the database.  Set it up for your local URL and you will be set to go.

Be sure to restart the application after adding the DB entry though, as portalalias values are cached!

this is for sure caused by inadequate portal alias. Either add via UI prior to transferring database or access database with a management tool and add an additional entry for your portal in table PortalAlias, having appropriate domain address.

Hey,

Thanks this seemed to have fixed the issue of the site linking to the LIVE url.

However it did create a new problem, it seems that none of my containers ( I use MLHTML module for multilanguage) or created pages are shown even though they are in the coppied database. Is there any way i can make them appear again without having to remake them all?

Thanks!
