i realize this is a free, open source product but....the bugs i've encountered on my first installation have amazed me. the bugs i run into are the kind you'd see with a release of 1.0 - but i'm using 4.9!

examples....

- i added the Store module and entered my first product. when viewed in firefox, the product description runs right off the edge of the container.

- there is a clear setting for "body background" which allows you to browse to a background image. thats great but....the background doesn't change.

- when logged in as admin, after changing a setting and hitting update, i have to log out to see my changes take effect.

i am using the community version. i had a older two years ago that seemed much less buggy.

DNN is sooooo buggy, to give you a chance to rant about it ;)

But most of your issues are not caused by the framework, but buy (combination) of extensions like skin and modules.

  • current version of Store module has been release, when the current default skin was not available, Using DNN blue or most of the available older 3rd party skins will not show this issue. Store 2.2 is currently in the make and there are huge efforts put in for XHTML compliance
  • body background is an old setting (from DNN1) and will only be effective, if supported by the Skin. I would vote to remove this setting, but I fear, there will be a couple of sites still using it within their custom skin
  • there is no logout required for settings to take effect, there must be a caching happen on your server, in your network or in the local browser. Tweaking the performance settings in host settings (authenticated user caching) would be another option.
