Hello

I'm a bit stuck on my current project.  I need to validate a VAT number.  This has turned out to be more difficult than expected.  I eventually found this javascript that should sort the problem.

I'm not very good with javascript so i'm going to need some help implementing this.  The module that is currently using this has a text field and LinkButton that runs a serverside method, Submit().  The validation script says it needs to be added in the OnClick method but i'm currently using that to fire the Submit() method.

I've just added the script file using:

<script src="../../misc/JavaScript/jsvat.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function testVATNumber () {
  var myVATNumber = document.getElementById('txtVatCode').value;
  if (checkVATNumber (myVATNumber)) {
    document.getElementById('txtVatCode').value = checkVATNumber (myVATNumber)
    VAT number has a valid format");
  }
  else VAT number has an invalid format");
}

</script>

Am i on the right track?  Any help would be most appreciated.

Simon

ok you can check this validation on clientclick by using following code " YourButtonID.Attributes["onclick"] = "testVATNumber (this);" ;  " in your CS/VB code

and in JS you can directly write like this

var myVATNumber = this.value;

Rather than

" var myVATNumber = document.getElementById('txtVatCode').value; "

so this script will validate on client click before submit. so just try this
