Hi,

I am getting a lot of feedback from my registered users saying my signup process is too difficult to use. Especially when thy want to upgrade to a different security role.

Is there any way to have different signup pages for each of my security roles?

Ideally I would like to have a custom signup page for each security role that takeS them straight to the payment pages. Each security role has a different price.

Can this be done please?

Thanks

Trev

Trevor-
The best solution I know of to really take control over the regsitration process is Dynamic Registration from DataSprings.  It includes payment gateway features with automatic role-assignment after a payment is complete.  I know you can use the module to renew regsitrations but I'm not sure about using it to "upgrade" existing regsitrations.  (Perhaps the User Guide has the answer.)

You can add your own custom SQL queries, create custom reg forms, send emails with file attachments, auto-check whether a username is already taken via AJAX (i.e., as soon as the user types in the desired username), etc.  It's a fantastic module -- especially compared to what you're limited to by way of the core User Regsitration features.

Good luck!

Hi Mamlin,

Thanks for info.

So it doesnt look like DNN does this out of the box. pity.

I have looked at Dynamic Registration and another product from David Smith of www.smith-consulting.com.

Both look like they could do the job.

Except the one from smith-consulting doesn't integrate with paypal.(?)

I am talking to smith consulting at the moment about integrating PayPal and then it should be just fine...

One of the key things for me is to be able to offer 3 completely different pages for each of my singup options. 1 is free, the other 2 are paid options. I want to add extra profile questions be available depending on the option that are looking at.... and once the questions are answered, if they have chosen a paid option it takes them straight through the paypal payment process and back to a relevant page on my site....

Oh, well, wish me luck. this is being reported to me as a major hole in my site...has to be filled.

I am leaning towards the smith consulting option at the moment but its all down to the paypal integration..

Anyway, sorry to ramble. Hope it is a thread that will help future visitors...

Trevor-
If you go with PayPal as a payment processor make sure you use a solution that fully supports PayPal IPN (Instant Payment Notification).  This is the type that will allow your site to automatically take some action after a payment is confirmed with PayPal.  The most basic PayPal linkage simply dumps the user over to PayPal but has no way to see for itself whether the user ends up actually making a payment, meaning the user has to wait for you to manually compare your DNN records with your PayPal payment records.  Dynamic Regsitration supports PayPal IPN which is a huge feature as far as I'm concerned (I also happen to be a "PayPal Certified Developer" so there's a bit of bias towards the system and processes I know).

Judging from what is already supported in the Smith-Consulting module, I'd expect that PayPal IPN will be the flavor integrated if any PayPal option is added.

Please return and update this thread with your experience once you've settled on a solution and have had a chance to really put it to use.

Hi mamlin,

Thanks for the above...

Your comments and a gut feeling made me start looking from scratch this morning for a module to help me overcome my problems with the signup process..

I managed to find a 3rd option which has solved my short term problems... It's a "paypal subscription module". With IPN.

Here is my advertising page which i have done using the module... it's much better...

http://www.taxiroute.co.uk/AdvertiseWithUs/tabid/1193/language/en-GB/Default.aspx

No more.. please register..... then try and find the link to your pofile..... then click on manage settings... and if you actually can be bothered to go this far.... click on the correct subscription out of a list of loads... then get your wallet out and pay....

This module is a little in the extreme but it makes my users 1 click away from paying...

I'll post back if conversion improves...
