My scenario is that I want to run several different dnn sites on my local Vista IIS 7.0 ( several portals in a single dnn site is not an issue here)

In IIS 5.1 I would create a VirutalDirectory for each site but how is the way to do this in IIS 7.0.
I have tried to add a dnn site(folder) both as an Application and as a VirtualDirectory, but  I can't get this to work.
If I add the dnn site as a WebSite I can only get it to work partial. I have to specify another port than 80, and here dnn have problems in preserving the port (it does not add the :port to the host name)

I'm not a newbie but i'm not that experienced in IIS 7.0

anyone tried this scenario ?
any guidelines/suggestions appreciatet

regards
Henrik Holm

You should be able to configure each DNN instance as an application under the Default Web Site in IIS 7. You will also need to add the correct portalalias in the database as well. What response are you seeing when trying to hit the site?

Henrik:

First let me say that I have no experience with IIS on Vista, however, I do have a lot of experience with IIS on all other versions of Windows.  In general, when you define a new Web site in IIS, and you are running it off of a given server with the same IP address and same port number (80), the only other way IIS has to distinguish and direct the request properly is the Host Header name.  Therefore, you must define the host header name for the new Web site, like www.yourdomain.com.  This host header must match the alias you enter in DNN.  The host header is one of the properties of the Web site definition by the way.

Hope this helps.

Carlos
