Is there a reason you are attempting to use connection string information in appSettings section as opposed to the connectionStrings section?

If you have a line in the appSettings section that looks like this:

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=Nitin;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=AspNetNitin;pwd=logout;"/>

then you should have a corresponding setting in your connectionStrings section that looks like this:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=Nitin;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=AspNetNitin;pwd=logout;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Let me know if this helps.

Derek
