It'd be great to add the ability to change the "from:" address for Tracking and Notification.

i.e. it could be populated automatically with the default value... but you could add a field from the form to be the FROM: address.

Basically I want website visitors to be able to type in their e-mail address and hit "submit" or "subscribe" and then the website will send an e-mail with the appropriate address and subscribe code.

i.e. the email has to have the following attributes

To: stList@mydomain.com

From: the email address typed by the website visitor

Subject: can be whatever...

Body: subscribe maillist@mydomain.com

Is there a way to use the form module to do this?

Thanks

 m,

this is not a good idea IMHO because a number of mail servers do not allow relaying. I would prefer to be able to use a "replyto" address, i.e. from still states "webmaster@mysite.com", but when the recipient replies, the original sender's email address get put into "to". What do you think?

Thanks Sebastian

The mailing list is automatically maintained by my mail server (smartermail).  In order for someone to join, they just have to send an e-mail to stList@mydomain.com with "subscribe maillist@mydomain.com" in the body of the e-mail.

It'd be nice to give visitors a web form to simply type their e-mail address in and hit submit

They can also unsubscribe by sending an email to stList@mydomain.com with "unsubscribe maillist@mydomain.com" in the body of the e-mail.

It sounds easy, but it seems to confuse some website visitors!

Maybe if you add a warning that changing the "From:" may be rejected by some mail servers... that would alleviate concern.

Also, I'm able to change the "From:" field in the newsletters module in DNN 4.9.2 without any issues.... so I can send from any address.

Hello Sebastian,

I think you are correct in your suggestion. This is the way to do it, if you want to reply to the sender by mail - and that sounds like an obvious thing to do. With this you don't need to retype to the correct TO address.

The suggestion from m, is a slightly different usage of the module - which may be fine, but should maybe be a configuration issue.

Any idea when this can be expected in the module?

Sorry for the noob question, but how do I do this.  Is it possible to set a "replyto" address?
