I installed a new DNN 494 with AD authentication 1.0.5. This is on Windows XP as a test so I can work on importing users from AD to pre-populate the DNN userbase. I have a business need to have the accounts there prior to user's first visit.

But as I test with my windows user, I find that the account is created but the First, Last and Display names are wacky. The First name holds the domain name. The Last name holds the AD user account name. The Display name is empty altogether. The username is domain\username, so that's fine.

I have used AD authentication 1.0.4 previously on a production server without experiencing this problem. Just upgraded to 1.0.5 there as well.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Will there be a way that we can map AD attributes/values to User Profile instead of having it done automagically? I'd like to use a different email address than the base account email - we use lastname@inst.com for the basic account but publish as FirstName.LastName@inst.com and I'd rather pull the latter.

Most of the time when I've heard of the info being pulled in funky impersonation in the web.config fixed it.

At this point what gets pulled in is automatic. Perhaps in a future version mapping will be possible but it won't be in the immediate future.

Thanks, Mike. I have identity impersonate="true" in web.config

    <!-- forms or Windows authentication -->
    <authentication mode="forms">
      <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies" />
    </authentication>
      <identity impersonate="true"/>
    <!--
      <authentication mode="Windows">
      </authentication>
  -->

On production server, at least with 1.0.4, user info got pulled in correctly. I'll see if I can test with a new user now that I upgraded ... any other suggestions, meanwhile?

You may have to use a domain username/password in your impersonation line. More info can be found in the documentation.

Hi, Mike,

I reviewed the documentation and made the suggested changes, and additionally gave the user the requisite privileges on the temp asp.net folder.

I deleted my AD user account from DNN and came back with a windows log in. THe account was created in the same way. No display name, so all I see is | Logout ... and domain name as first name, username as last. odd.
