 no, we usually use WMV and windows media server  for streaming.

I had to convert a flv file to a swf file and then it worked. You can then use the html module if you like.

The media module is not up to date I think.

I apologize for any inconvenience, Dave haven't really got the chance to add improvements, i.e. in fact the module hasn't been updated for nearly 2 years.

but there are a number of 3rd party contributors, who created solution for most of the common use cases.

We are aware of the "stale" nature of the project, and we certainly do want to move forward to get it up-to-date.  Unfortunately, there are things outside of our control making that process go much slower than everyone would like.  Once things begin to move forward though, you can sure expect some exciting releases for the Media Module.
