04.09.04 DNN Version
01.00.06 AD Provide Beta
SQL Server 2005

I was able to set upgrade to 04.09.04 and upgrade my AD provider to .06, but now I have some users not able to login, they get a generic login failed error, "Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive"

I've had several other users login through AD and successfully authenticate and synchd to their respective role, but some users can't login.  Does anyone have any idea, of why this happens, are there any logs I can look at to see where the login is failing?

I upgrade DNN and AD provider to get rid of the UserCreateStatus error, but now I'm having this new error...

Any help is appreciated.

Are the users selecting the Windows Login button when they attempt to login? With previous versions the user's password was stored in the database so they could login under either (once their account was created). With the .06 version the password is randomized in the DNN database and they have to select Windows Login when logging in manually.

Another possibility is password length. By default DNN expects 7 characters for the password. When automatically logging in this doesn't matter as the password rules are bypassed but on manual login it is checked because it's tied into the DNN login procedure. The password length requirement can be changed in the web.config for the DNN installation.

I changed the login order, so that Windows login is the default.  It's a new database so there are no stored users from previous DNN version. Users will not be login in with DNN login just with Windows login (only myself and other users that I assign as admins will be using the DNN login), so I have both enabled AD and DNN. So far most users are able to login with Windows login, it's just some users that get the "Login Failed" error.  As for the character requirements, I have some users that have a 4 character AD password and they don't have trouble login in.

Try changing the minimum password length in the web.config first. If it still isn't working we'll go from there.

Thanks, for the help...

Ok, changed the min pwd from 7 to 4 in the web.config... still doesn't work.
