Hi I am using Dnn 4.3.  currently the portal is using document module for downloading files, It do not work for large files.

Is there any way through which i can secure my large files as I am just using the link which is pointing to some other location ( unsecure).

Thanks!

har-
By default DNN caps upload/downlaod file sizes at 8MB.  You can allow larger file sizes by increasing this limit in your web.config file.

Open your web.config and find the following entry:

 <
httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"/>

Change maxReqestLangth and requestLengthDiskThreaeshold from "8192" (8 megabytes) to "81920" (80 megabytes).  Also add an executionTimeout entry to increase the default timeout value.  This value is measured in seconds so for large file size support you can try a value of "1200" for 20 minutes.  You'll end up with the following:

 <httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="81920" requestLengthDiskThreshold="81920" executionTimeout="1200"/>

Once you changed this and saved the web.config file DNN should automatically recycle itself and immediately start supporting the larger file sizes.

Cheers!

Thanks Mamlin . Really appreciate your solution . But problem is my client needs 248 MB of file to upload . when i tried the way by increasing maxrequestLength to 248 MB . It gave me error that this has exceeded the limit.

IS there any other way to upgrade teh document module to increase its capability to download/upload large files .

Again Thanks a lot, at least I know the funda now how to make it upto 104 MB but still myclient need larger files .

you should use a different upload module, using either Silverlight, Flash or AJAX upload controls.

HI .. Thanks.

Can you please suggest any specific module name as the alternate to document module and the source to get it. I am just new in the organisation and your replies are highly value to me.
