On the initial view of the list of blogs I want to remove the spacing between the Author/Date and the Summary so that it is all single spaced until the Read More just like on the DNN webpage.   How can I do this?

Check the ViewBlog.ascx file under the DesktopModules/Blog folder. You should be able to change your spacing there.

Alternatively, If you are good with CSS, you can use a tool like firebug to find out the css class used on that line, and reduce the padding/margins.

HTH.
