I need to be able to do the following things.

1.  allow users to create topics.

2. topics would present two - four choices to vote on

3. vote tallys always showing at the beginning of the page

4. subsequent discussion with the ability to have the topic closed by either

     a. time

     b. admin intervention.

Total user count would be rather small.  It's for an internal group of folks to decide on project direction and collaborate in a basic way.

IE:   Forks or Sporks or Hands

Should we use forks, spoons or our hands for this years fesitval.

Votes so far :  29% for forks : 36% for sporks,  35 % for hands.

Discussion:

User1: I prefer sporks, they are versatile.

User2: Use your hands, we need to save money!

User3: Sporks can be used for many things, why not the spork.

User4: (reply to User 3 - message id#433) - because they are more expensive than forks or using our hands.

While I would prefer to head on the curve of .net, this is something I konw that can be done with ease in Drupal and in style.  I am trying to learn the MS way of doing things as it is more beneficial in the long run, and would like it if I could do this mini project for our little group using .net

Thanks

Active Forums from ActiveModules.com has abilities like polling, and in a forum style for discussion to follow.

Also templateable, so if the [TOKEN] exists in the product, you can work your own layout.

I think there's a "free" version you can try, has some limitations, but might give you an idea.  The entry level module is not expensive.

dnn IS free, and there are a lot of free modules available, however, there is also a rich commercial third party eco system around dnn. ActiveModules (www.activiemodules.com), is one of the manu great third party DNN module vendors.

Well that's good news honestly.  I noticed this in the product comparison page just now.

I will checkout that site.  Hey I don't mind paying a few $ for working modules that don't require hours of intervention to get them working properly (cough php).  Free isnt so free when it's broken right? :)
