At this point I would be Happy to get DNN Search working again. Any Ideas?

I ran into a problem where I deleted my forum info from the database tables so I could repopulate it all.  I'm guessing you already tried to re-index the data via the hosts menu and it didn't do it.  The forum has a setting of date last indexed and will only reindex info that is newer than that date. 

To reset this date go to the forums module -> Admin -> General Settings.  You'll see an entry for Date Last Indexed and a little link to 'Reset Date'.  Reset the date, go back to teh search admin as host and reindex.  This will get all of your forum info back into the full site search tables.  Hope that's what you're looking for.
