I have many users that ask me how something works or gets stuck on a specific page. I would like to be able to login as that user just to reproduce what they encountered to see what happened.

I looked around but could not find a module that would allow an admin to impersonate a user. Ideally I would like to simply pass the username within the url, but if I do not know the specific page, I need to look up the username and password and login as them.

I really just want to impersonate a user temporarily that will not override or record their session history.

Has anyone achieved this or is it even possible?

Thanks!

My initial thinking is this would be a pretty big security risk...

Does the event view not provide enough information about what went wrong? If not, cant you ask the user for their password  or reset the password and then log in as them? If you are in a corporate setting, you could also see about using SMS or some type of "shadowing" tool to watch the user interact with the site as well...

Just my $0.02

I believe that Seeleyware has a product that can do this for you.

Here's an old one I've used quite a bit in the past (works up to DNN 4.6.2 and possibly beyond):

Simple but very effective for only $11.

This kind of functionality doesn't concern anyone? Am I missing something or are you able to hijack a person account completely? Admittedly I am a bit paranoid, so maybe one of you can ease my worries by telling me why this doesnt scare you. The one from snowcovered looks like you have to login as an admin or host before you can use it, thats cool. But the other one allows you to just click a url and you are logged in as a user? That just seems scary... cool but scary. I see these tools as being very useful, so again please let me know why you feel comfortable with them and maybe I can relax and benefit from them as well :)

Thanks!
