I just bought a really great skin from dnnskin.net.  I am happy with the design except there is an image rotator that is displayed on the demo site that apparently isn't apart of the site I purchased. ( they never made that clear which is a whole other chestnut I wont' crack here).

Anywho, so I ask them if I can get the image rotator and they give me the file for it. It contains a .js file, some pngs and an html file. I ask them exactly how to install it and they tell me " please try to add the html code through the Text/HTML module, then add the scripts in the Text/HTML module settings/ Advanced Settings/ Header ,thanks."

Well, I created an HTML module on my home page, went in and clicked on "source" copied all the HTML code from the document into the text field within the HTML module saved it off, and then went into the module settings and pasted the .js code (all of it) into the header field. (which is weird).

when I saved the module and took a look at it, it just displays all the javascript. I wrote them back and asked what I was doing wrong and they wrote "

Thank you for your messages, as we declared it's not a module, we just add it through the HTML module such as below:

<div id="BL"><a id="slide-previous-link" href=" void(0);"><!----></a></div>
<div id="BR"><a id="slide-next-link" href=" void(0);"><!----></a></div>
<div id="slideContainer">
<div id="slideItems">
<div class="cbox"><img height="320" alt=" " width="740" src="/portals/145/s1.png" /></div>
<div class="cbox">
<ul style="padding-right: 0px; padding-left: 0px; float: left; padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; width: 48%; padding-top: 0px; text-align: left">
    <li><strong>1 Great Color</strong><br />
    Current skin pack contains one great color</li>
    <li><strong>3 Width Options</strong><br />
    Small Wdith \ Medium Width \ Full Width</li>
    <li><strong>4 Background Options</strong><br />
    Black \ Color \ Gray \ White</li>
    <li><strong>W3C standard XHTML compliant skin</strong><br />
    Fully accessible designs and layouts.</li>
    <li><strong>Flexible pane layouts</strong><br />
    Total 15 panes to meet complex layout.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="padding-right: 0px; padding-left: 0px; float: right; padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; width: 48%; padding-top: 0px; text-align: left">
    <li><strong>3 skin objects:theme \ layout \ cssmenu</strong><br />
    Free skinobject, which can be validated with w3c</li>
    <li><strong>10 Banner Container Options</strong><br />
    Self-adapting width,self-adapting height</li>
    <li><strong>8 Containers</strong><br />
    All the containers can be validated with the W3C</li>
    <li><strong>3 text sizes Supported</strong><br />
    10px \ 12px \ 14px,Default 12px, changing on the client</li>
    <li><strong>SiteMap Skin included</strong><br />
    Simple sitemap code and multi lanugage supported</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div class="cbox"><img height="250" alt=" " width="620" src="/portals/145/s3.png" /></div>
<div class="cbox"><img height="300" alt=" " width="670" src="/portals/145/s4.png" /></div>
<div class="cbox"><img height="320" alt=" " width="740" src="/portals/145/s1.png" /></div>
</div>
</div>

I then pasted that code into the module and it still doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? I can't get them to help me at all.

Please help!

 Paste everything in the module settings HEADER area.  Pasting anything in the module's EDIt TEXT->SOURCE runs a risk of having the module alter your inserted HTML / code.  Be sure to paste your SCRIPT block (the javascript) before the HTML.

You can use any module's HEADER area for this but the Text/HTML module is a good choice since it will display no visible content of its own if you don't enter any display text and you hide the container via the module's SETTINGS.

If you do paste it make sure you click on source delete everything and then paste. If you paste on HTML mode it adds a <p> tag in the beginning and end and it treats it as text and not script.

Hey Mamlin, thanks for the reply.

So here's what I did I created a text/HTML module in the banner pane on my front page. Then I went to >settings> Advanced settings> Header

Photobucket

I opened up the .js file in dreamweaver and copied all the content (otherwise I'm not sure how to get the file in the header section) and then pasted all the HTML code after it.  When I enter update, it does this

Photobucket

Any suggestions?

I would email dnnskin.net and point them to this post.

Also state what version of DNN you are using.
