I support a web site using DNN 4.3.5 (which I hope soon to be able to upgrade!).  I recently upgraded Internet Explorer on BOTH my computers to IE8, and now when I try to "edit text" using IE8, I only get the HTML view - the WYSIWYG view isn't even available as an option.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is this because the site is back leveled?  The rich text editor in DNN 4.3.5 doesn't behave well with FireFox, so I do all my editing in IE, except that now I'm restricted to raw HTML.  I can read and work with it, I just really don't want to...  Can anyone suggest a workaround?  I hope to get the site upgraded at least to 4.9.x Real Soon Now, but in the interval I still have to do occasional text updates.

Puzzled,

hedera

Actually, it was easier than that - it was a compatibility mode issue.  Once I turned compatibility mode on for the site, the Rich Text Editor came back...

I have a host portal with several child portals under it.  One day, my WYSIWYG is there and fine.  The next day I start a new portal and now my WYSIWYG is gone on all of my sites.  How do I check compatibility like you did?  I didn't do anything different except delete an old portal and replace with something else.
