Hello. I've searched around for an answer for this one pretty extensively, I think it's possibly unique! Windows 2003, IIS6, Godaddy Virtual Dedicated, DNN Community 040904 After getting through some weird ASP/SQL issues, I haven't had many problems getting my site set up; outside of making it pretty, it's real close to being done. However... I can't add vendors. I've gone in as both site & host admin and tried it, I've gone into portal advertisement setting and changed it back and forth from host to site on the banners setting, I've tried as superuser and site admin to add a vendor , but when I fill out all the vendor information and hit "update" absolutely nothing whatsoever happens; clicking the cancel next to it works, so it's not just a page weirdness probably. I went ahead and put a banner module up on the home page thinking it might be required to exist before you add a vendor, no dice. I'm thinking maybe I just did something real weird and don't know it; the apparent work flow seems odd to me, with the admin having to set up the vendors account in the first place; I would think it would be a user role? but i've been through the docs and that doesn't seem to be the case.

Are you getting any javascript errors?

Are you having any trouble with required fields not being filled out?

Any errors in the Event Log (viewer)?

Nothing whatsoever in event viewer at the time I'm trying to add a vendor.

Idon't think I'm "having any trouble with required fields not being filled out", if i understand what your saying;

As to javascript errors... that pretty much has to be it, right? I've searched through the server logs, went in and looked through the java installations logs, and thats about the end of where I can think to look. One thing: in firefox I click "update" and nothing happens; I just tried it with IE6, and when I click on update I get the yellow exclamation mark and the work "error on page" in the bottom left corner of the browser, but the Java console shows absolutely nothing.

on the off chance I was just being and idiot, I went to one of my other dnn sites (on a different host) and added exactly the same information, added with no problems.

OK, it looks like this is NOT a run-of-the-mill problem?

Folks, I have to get the advertising system on this site working; I've already invested more than I can afford on this site, I've called in favors for cross site advertisng, got a couple of companies to sponsor portions, Failure is not an option.

Should I hire a DorNetNuke specialist? is that my only option? I've examined the settings and logs over and over and I just can't find anything, especially since apparently everything else works just fine.

OK, I found a solution. whether its a good solution or not, I have no idea.

In site settings, I changed "banner" to none. updated

rebooted the server (this may not have been neccessary, but I was desperate).

In site settings, I changed "banner" to site. updated

...and it works. the only thing I did different from things I tried before was the server restart.
